Other Ways to Make a Difference

There are so many ways you can support YLF and help change someones life…

In order to leave a charitable legacy you must have a will. A will is a legally binding document that will ensure that your wishes are fulfilled. If you do not have a will, your solicitor can help you write one. If you do have one, you can add a short amendment to your existing will that mentions the type of gift and the name of the charity that you would like to benefit from it.

You will need to know the full name and charity number of the organisation(s) that you wish to leave a gift to. Our full name is ‘The Young Lives Foundation’ and our charity number is 1119528.

Asking for donations instead of gifts on special occasions is an inspiring way for family and friends to mark your special occasion and raise funds for our work.

Giving through a celebration such as a wedding or civil partnership is becoming a very popular way for couples to donate to their favourite charity, especially if you feel you have everything you need for married life already. Some have even set up donations in lieu of birthday gifts. This can be done by setting up an online donation page through Virgin Money Giving, an easy way for guests to donate.

If you have recently lost a loved one and would like to donate to YLF in their memory we would love to hear from you.

Some people choose to hold a collection at the funeral or receive donations in lieu of flowers. You could also set up a tribute page using Virgin Money Giving. Friends and family are invited to make a donation to the page and leave a personal message. Donations come directly to YLF. Or make a one off donation.

If you would prefer to regularly give a specific amount to YLF either monthly or annually, a standing order/direct debit can be set up through your bank either in branch or through your telephone/online banking system. Donations will then come directly to YLF.

You will need our account and sort code details which are:
Sort code: 40-31-06
Account Number: 12237458

YLF consider all regular donors as Friends of YLF. If you set up monthly regular giving and request to become a friend of YLF, we will ensure you are given VIP treatment for example, given priority tickets to events, exclusive invites to closed events and regular newsletters so you are right up to date with all we are doing.

Find out more about becoming a Friend of YLF by emailing Karen at karen.knight@ylf.org.uk

Gifts in Kind

During seasonal periods such as Christmas and Easter, many young people who we support would not normally receive many gifts, so a donated gift can make a huge difference and let young people know they are thought of. YLF also regularly host prize draws and auctions at events and stalls, and donated gifts help keep fundraising costs low ensuring fundraised money goes directly to our front line services. In return we can publicly thank you or your business and promote your services where possible.

Please get in touch with Karen if you have a gift you would like to donate karen.knight@ylf.org.uk

Make your donations go further

Gift Aid

giftaiditGift aiding your donation means it will be worth 25% more to us at no additional cost to you. Gift Aid is a scheme operated by HMRC allowing charities to claim the basic rate tax on a donation made by a UK taxpayer.

Gift Aid is automatically claimed through our direct online giving form and through our Virgin Money Giving site. Other donations can be gift aided by completing a GIFT AID FORM. Please send completed forms to our YLF office.

Other Ways of Giving

Giving Through Your Salary

Giving through your pay means that your donation will go much further. You can donate whatever you can afford, from as little as £1 a month or more. The donation is taken from your gross pay before tax is deducted, so it costs you less and is tax-free. HM Revenue & Customs then gives us that tax that they would have received from your pay.

Simply speak to your HR or Payroll department who will be able to tell you if your employer has a payroll giving scheme.

Public Donations

Public collections are a great way to increase your fundraising and raise awareness. We can provide you with collection tins. Let us help you organise and gain the necessary permissions, please email Karen at karen.knight@ylf.org.uk

Static Collection Boxes

If you are able to place a collection box for us in a store, club, office, or would simply like one at home, we will be pleased to help, just email Karen at karen.knight@ylf.org.uk
