Statement from the New Participation Apprentice | JOHN

My name is John I am YLF’s new Participation Apprentice. I have been a member of Young Lives for about 3 years and been going to the MCYPC as well. I’m excited to be a part of the team making a difference. “Making a difference”, when people read that or hear that they think of emergency services or Special Forces. Well it’s not just about saving lives it’s about changing them and that is what The Young Lives Foundation does.

My goal while being the Participation Apprentice is to represent over 300 children across Medway. There is a meeting called MCYPC (Medway Children Young People Council) to get the young people’s opinions and views across to Medway Council. This is going to be important to me personally because before I joined the MCYPC I thought that Medway council weren’t that important and didn’t do anything. But my opinion has changed – they make a difference like the new leisure passes, improving support for care leavers and organising charity football matches against social workers and the police.

I feel like I’m going to make a difference and help young people with whatever they need help with. My journey will be exciting and challenging but I’m willing to give it my all with the help of the YLF team as well.  If you have any issues you would like to raise let me know. I’m looking forward to hear from all of you amazing people.
