There are a few places still available on YLF’s next ‘Volunteer Independent Visitors Induction Training Course’ held over 2 consecutive Saturdays, the 27th July & 3rd August.
The recently updated training course, held in our own training room at College Road, Maidstone is designed to give prospective volunteers a good introduction into befriending and supporting children in the care system.
So for those still thinking about volunteering with YLF or considering the befriending role, now is the time to apply! We are particularly keen to hear from applicants in East Kent as we have many young people waiting for a befriender!
“I’ve got so much out volunteering as a befriender with YLF. The return has been out of all proportion to the time and effort I have put in. I thought I would be doing all the giving…it has been a real surprise and so satisfying. I wanted to do something to help a young person in care. It is not as difficult as I first thought it might be. We have so much in common and lots of fun. It is really good to know that I can bring some enjoyment and quality time into his life.” Independent Visitor Volunteer 2012
