Mark’s Marathon Success!

YLF's marathon runner, Mark Convey, completed the Brighton Marathon in just over 4 hours! We are incredibly thankful to him and delighted to announce that he has so far raised over £1,200!

Yesterday, YLF were present at The Shipwrights Arms in Chatham, to congratulate Mark on his return from the Brighton Marathon. Unbeknown to everyone at the pub, Mark was presented with a 'surprise' sponsorship cheque.

We were all astounded to see the cheque made out for

£2,888!

Mark's running total so far is

£5,200!

After hearing that Mark would be running the Brighton Marathon for YLF, the Medway Emeralds, who form part of the Celtic Supporters Club, wanted to do more than just sponsor a few pounds. Instead, they teamed with The Shipwrights Arms pub in Chatham, to carry out some fundraising activities that would significantly increase the amount that they could give.

A few weeks ago, the Chatham supporters grouped together with friends and also staff of YLF to do a sponsored 9 mile walk (http://ylf.org.uk/news/sponsored-walk-success/). This fundraising event, along with other small fundraising activities at the pub, has generated this huge sum of £2,888.

The sponsorship will hugely benefit the children of YLF and at Mark's request, more so those most vulnerable in the Medway area.

Thank you to Medway Emeralds, Shipwrights Arms and to all those who have sponsored Mark so far. For those who haven't, there is still time to sponsor him by visiting:
