Action Hub: Fatima’s UK Campaign!

YLF Becomes an Action Hub for Fatima’s UK Campaign!

Putting care leavers at the heart of change!

YLF is delighted to announce that we are proud to be acting as an Action Hub for Fatima’s UK Campaign, joining a growing network of organisations and individuals working to create positive and lasting change for care-experienced young people across the UK.

Led by Olympian Fatima Whitbread, the campaign is rooted in her own experience of growing up in care. Abandoned as a baby, Fatima spent 14 years living in children’s homes. Her experiences have shaped her determination to improve the care system and ensure that children in care are “seen, heard and valued.”

Supported by her Vice Chair, Gina Gardiner, Fatima’s UK Campaign brings together people and organisations who share a commitment to improving outcomes for care-experienced people and creating sustainable change within the care system.

Supporting care leavers to thrive!

As an Action Hub, YLF will be bringing particular focus to our work with care leavers through our Futures Care Leavers’ Programmes.

Our Futures programmes support young adults as they take their next steps beyond care, helping them to develop their independence, build confidence, access opportunities and create meaningful connections within their communities.

As part of this work, the team will continue to build strong partnerships and collaborate with charities, agencies and businesses, while working directly alongside care leavers across Kent and Medway to develop and strengthen the Futures offer.

We know that leaving care can be a time of huge change and opportunity, but it can also come with challenges. Having the right people, support and connections around you can make a lasting difference. Through Futures, we want to help ensure that care-experienced young people have the opportunity to shape their own futures and thrive on their journey into adulthood.

Working together for lasting change

Becoming an Action Hub gives YLF another opportunity to connect our local work with a wider movement for change. We are excited to share learning, build new relationships and contribute to a campaign that reflects our own commitment to improving the experiences and opportunities of care-experienced children and young people.

We are particularly looking forward to working alongside care leavers, partners and organisations across Kent and Medway to explore what more can be done to ensure young people leaving care have the support, opportunities and connections they need to thrive.

Autumn 2026 is an exciting time for our Futures programmes – and there is plenty more to come!
