YLF and Medway's Children Services host biggest annual summer BBQ yet!
Medway Children’s Services and YLF came together at the end of August to host their annual end-of-summer celebration …and it was our biggest and best BBQ yet!
More than 200 care experienced children and young people, care leavers, foster carers, social workers, and families joined us for an afternoon packed with fun, food, and friendship.
Our amazing BBQ team worked tirelessly to serve up over 400 sizzling burgers, while the MCYPC team added colour and flavour with fresh salads, fruit, and the much-loved old-school sprinkle cake.
The event was bursting with activities for everyone from craft tables, hair-braiding, and face painting to football, Zumba, and a silent disco. For those looking for a breather, the ‘hub’ offered a calm and welcoming space to recharge.
Laughter and energy filled the air as old friends reconnected and new friendships were made. And in true British style, the weather held out right until the very end with the first drops of rain arriving just as we packed away!
This year’s BBQ was all about connection, celebration, and community – and thanks to the phenomenal turnout, it was our most successful yet. We can’t wait to see even more faces at next year’s celebration!
