Volunteer

If you can spare a couple of hours each month, you can help make a HUGE difference to young people!

Your Local Children's Charity Need YOU!

Volunteering at YLF is an incredibly rewarding experience, offering a chance to make a lasting impact on young lives while also growing personally.

YLF volunteers are the heart of what we do. They listen, support and empower young people, they give over 34,000 hours every year and without them we could not operate.

Could you give just a few hours a month and contribute to building a more positive, inclusive, and resilient community?

Why YLF?

When you become a volunteer for YLF, you will be valued by our close knit team who will be there for you every step of the way.

Supporting our volunteers is one of our priorities. We provide DBS checks, full training, materials and resources, regular supervision and round-the-clock support.

To thank our volunteers we organise special events and social gatherings during the year too.

Our open-door policy also means you are welcomed at any of our hubs and the main office at any time, whether it’s to stop by and say hello, or to meet with your young person.

Are You Ready?

Can you answer ‘yes’ to the following? … Are you:

Passionate about helping disadvantaged young people reach their potential?

Able to spare a minimum of two hours per month?

Able to commit to us for at least 12 months?

A good listener and non-judgemental?

Able to attend three, two-hour training sessions to acquire the tools/knowledge to commence volunteering?

Then you are more than ready!

That’s all you need – don’t worry if you have no experience or qualifications in this type of work, we will equip you!

Trustee Roles

Our Trustees are also volunteers! If you have an interest in joining our Board and finding out more about what they do, take a look at our Trustees page.
