February Half Term Fun
Half term kicked off with a bowling trip for young people from our Tonbridge and Malling hub!
Young people really enjoyed being together in teams, building new friendships and increasing their confidence. They played two games of bowling and then afterwards we surprised them with lunch in McDonalds!
Young People's Feedback...
"I loved bowling. I was a bit anxious about going but it's given me more confidence"
"Bowling was great fun. I got four strikes in a row and ended up with the highest overall score"
"I really enjoyed bowling as I had not been before. Going to McDonald's afterwards was a real surprise"
Then we had the MCYPC day...
Thursday saw the Medway Children’s and Young Peoples Council meet; this was a great time for them to spend time together, discuss their views and visions about being in care. They had great fun, starting the day off by getting to know each other over silly games followed by the young people completing questionnaires about foster care and social services. The morning was then rounded off by playing games like dodge ball, pool, football table and many more…. We look forward to more MCYPC days in the future.
Young People's Feedback
“I learnt what Advocacy is today”
“I made new friends”
Jump around Friday...
The young people of Thanet had a great time at Gravity Maidstone. After a bit of drive there, which involved lots of music, silliness and games in the cars, the young people arrived and enjoyed jumping around on the trampolines. Party music was playing and everyone was running, jumping and flipping around the trampolines. They then had the chance to cool off, have some lunch and head home.
Young People's Feedback...
“I enjoyed being able to do flips on the trampoline”
“I had never been here before, it was cool to come to”
“On behalf of the staff and young people of The Quarterdeck Youth Hub, I would like to say a huge thank you for allowing some of our “at risk” young people on your half term holiday trip to “Gravity” in Maidstone. The young people really enjoyed themselves, had a lot of fun and made new friends whilst being involved in physical activity for an hour on the trampolines" | Andy Pendlebery Senior Early Help Worker
Rounding the week off we had a Pottery Workshop at This Art of Mine...
The young people of Sittingbourne were really lucky to receive a free workshop and to each create a T-shirt and a mug. The young people learnt how to write words backwards and then were able to print them. They were also able to choose any image they wanted which was then printed onto a t-shirt. The staff team helped them with the printing. The young people had great fun coming up with designs and decorating the mugs and t-shirts they were given.
Young People's Feedback...
“I loved learning how to make a T-shirt”
“I loved being able to paint a mug”
“I wish I could have made more T-shirts”
