Who doesn’t want to hit the road and have their first time away from home?!
Last week the young people of Sittingbourne headed out on their first ever residential…Woo Woo!
After a rather whizzy drive we checked in to Stubbers Activity Centre, Essex. We found our tents and settled in before heading out to see what we would be up to for the next few days!
After an epic tour of the site it was time to refuel with a yummy roast! We then went to explore before hitting the park. The evening consisted of toasting marshmallows, popping them in between two chocolate biscuits and munching away… after our bellies were full, it was time to head to bed, dreaming of what the next few days adventures would bring.
After breakfast, we were ready to head out in our two groups and try our hand at some amazing activities! We took on the muddy hills of Essex with 4×4 driving, spun around the lake in a sailing boat and reached new heights with adventure climbing. Later we shot laser beams from the bushes in lazer tag, completed group trust exercises in a raft building session and learnt to survive in the woods with a bit of bush craft!
“Best experience I have ever had was 4X4 driving!”
“I sooo can’t wait until I am old enough to do my driving lessons, that was epic.”
“This residential has really helped me get over my anxiety as it was my first residential. I have made new friends and had some real fun. The adrenaline rush has been amazing…especially pamper pole standing at the top ready to jump!”
“This residential had made me more confident and encouraged me by being in a different group. This has helped me make new friends which I usually find hard. I now feel more confident to try new activities – I’ve loved it!”
Young Lives Foundation would like to offer a massive thank you to BNP Paribas for making this possible!
Ready…set…GO!!
What better way to end the summer than by hitting up the GoKarting track at Buckmore Park for some friendly competition?!
The young people of Medway, head to toe in racing gear, took to the track to see who would race to first place and claim the trophy! At the sound of the klaxon they set off, whizzing around the track, hitting the sharp turns and spinning around the corners.
The boys team clung onto first place position throughout the race, with two of the team battling it out to be crowned the champion! Once everyone had completed the race it was time to head inside to find out who was to become the reigning champion, and receive their trophy!
We were very lucky to have an exciting and funny guest join us to do some top secret filming and we can’t wait to share with you who that was…….Keep your eyes peeled!
Well done all!
“I can’t believe I just lost out on first place.”
“That was epic!”
“ I loved it! Especially as I didn’t want to do it at first.”
“ I can’t believe I did 14 laps!”
