Celebrating Volunteers 2024

We celebrated the achievements of our biggest supporters as part of National Volunteers Week!

Each year as part of National Volunteers Week, we celebrate the hard work and dedication of those who give their time and support to the charity.

Did you know…

Our volunteer mentors have given over 2,000 hours, over 150 young people have been supported through our Legends activities programmes and our volunteer befrienders support over 70 young people each year.

We are incredibly grateful to each and every person that helps YLF and its young people.

Throughout the week we gave thanks via our social media pages and on Friday 7th June, we celebrated together by hosting a huge event at the stunning North Barn, Aylesford Friars.

We had an unforgettable evening honouring our amazing volunteers, corporate supporters and fundraisers with live music, a delicious BBQ and heart warming stories. It was great to have Louise Duckett with us as we thanked her for being a biggest fundraiser this year, raising over £15,000 alongside Kent Law Society.

Our young people, Harrison and Jack, took center stage with their keyboard skills to entertain our guests and Paige bravely gave a speech about her mentoring journey.

We were thrilled to have Bryan Sweetland, Chairman of KCC, join us to celebrate and formally thank Mike Lowrey, YLF’s longest-serving volunteer, who is now retiring after volunteering for YLF for over 30 years. Mike has given over 13,000 voluntary hours and supported over 8,000 young people! Wow! He says, “I have had a remarkable journey over the years with laughs and tears. The highlight of my years was receiving the most prestigious award alongside my volunteer family – The Queen’s Award. I am so proud and have found my role most rewarding and well respected. I thank all of you for making me feel so special.”

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us – your dedication and hard work are truly appreciated. We hope you all left feeling as special as you are to us.

“YLF would not be possible without the massive contribution made by those we are celebrating with this evening. People who go out of their way to give the gift of time, take on fundraising challenges or make invaluable donations make this charity work and more importantly, ensure young people have opportunities to thrive. A heartfelt thank you to you all.” Stephen – CEO
