Tackling Stigma
Our Children in Care Council (CiCC) attended the National 'Listen Up' event in London to showcase their work and efforts to tackle the stigma of being in care.
The third 'Listen Up' event run by The Who Cares? Trust, invited Children in Care Councils from across the country to attend along with various professionals and organisations.
Once again, Children's Minster, Ed Timpson, addressed all present, recognising the great work that Children in Care Councils carry out across England.
Tiff, Paddy and David were representative of Medway's CiCC and displayed thier achievements at their stall which this year included our 'Top Ten Qualities' campaign and the more recent tackling stigma short film.
Our stall was very well attended by young people and professionals with many blown away by the powerful message in the stigma film. One care leaver said, "Wow! I'm so impressed with that. I really want the whole of the country to see this - you guys are doing a great job, keep it up!"
David said, "I cant believe how busy our stall was but everybody was positive about our work. I'm so pleased we came."
Paddy and Tiff both said, "We were really pleased to come along and get our film seen nationally - it feels like we areĀ putting Medway on the map!"
