Volunteer Christmas BBQ!
In a beautiful fairy lit barn near Maidstone around 50/60 of our amazing volunteers got together for a Christmas BBQ as a thank you to them for their brilliant work with YLF and young people in Kent. Turkey burgers, pigs in blankets and many more festive treats were served along with warm mulled wine and other Christmas goodies! Neil Vickery, our Mentoring & Befriending Manager, who helped arranged the evening, cooked a great feast with the help of Kathryn, our Admin Support Officer.
Volunteers included Appropriate Adults, Mentors, Independent Visitors, Sessional and Event Volunteers and also joining in the evening were many staff and Trustees, including Clive Emson, President of YLF. Peopled mingled and chatted whilst Christmas music played.
Stephen Gray, CEO and Geoffrey Dearing, Chairman, both personally and on behalf of the young people we work with, thanked everyone for their hard work and commitment, talking about how YLF has helped 3,500 young people in Kent, and volunteers giving over 34,000 hours of time during the last year. The Charity could not provide the support and important services without the dedication and willingness of our volunteers.
Awards were given out to acknowledge individual commitment and achievement.
On behalf of everyone at YLF we would like to wish all our volunteers and supporters a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Giving is powerful. Many people will attempt to prevent you from taking, yet no one can stop you from giving as much as you wish. Give, and you increase the value that flows through your life. Give of yourself, and you make yourself stronger.
