Overnight at Arethusa
14 young people from YLF's mentoring programmes came together for the first time at the weekend for an action packed time at the Arethusa Activity Centre in Upnor.
Young people came along with their mentors to take part in activities such as climbing, bush craft and swimming. Some of the volunteer mentors stayed and supported their young people throughout the day. It was wonderful to see how some of the mentoring arrangements had progressed and how much the young people had achieved.
“It's been the best weekend I've ever had!”
Young people referred to our mentoring programmes are often lacking in confidence self-belief and social skills so this weekend gave them an opportunity to conquer fears and push themselves trying new things or climb higher than they had ever done before!
“It gave me space away from home, I enjoyed meeting new people”
“It's built my confidence and I've met new friends”
