Three young people at YLF have achieved an ASDAN Short Course Award! A first for YLF!
A presentation evening was held to celebrate this success and two of the young people, Chloe and Ellesse, came along on that special evening to receive their ASDAN certificates.
The certificates for 'Adventure and Residential Award' were presented by YLF's CEO, Stephen Gray who praised them for not just achieving the five credits from this award, but for being the very first young people at YLF to do so!
“I am really pleased with myself! I planned this and took part in everything. It showed me what I could achieve.” Chloe
The short course that the three young people completed was earned by planning, organising and participating in a 4 day trip to Wales. They had to research where they wanted to go, budget for what they wanted to do and then participate on the trip. They had to evidence everything by taking pictures and writing short extracts about what they got up to and develop a portfolio.
ASDAN short courses help young people in their schooling and personal development. Now, thanks to this recent success, YLF are not only a Short Course Provider but a Full ASDAN Training Centre, allowing young people to achieve full qualifications equivalent to GCSEs!
“We hope that our supporters and friends can celebrate with us in thanking the young people for all their hard work. We look forward to working with many other young people to gain ASDAN awards and qualifications.” Lucy Wheatley, Positive Activities Co-ordinator.
