Takeover Challenge!
As part of the national Children's Commissioner's 'Takeover Challenge', on Thursday, 27 October 2016 Medway’s Children in Care Council (CiCC) attended Gun Wharf to takeover Medway professionals' roles for the day!
From being on reception to going out and working on the highways, all our young people came back and told us what they enjoyed, what they thought could be improved and whether they thought Takeover Day should happen next year.
So many young people came back and gave us a positive response as to how they found their day. A couple of our CiCC members, Ed and Dan, came back to us to report…
Ed (Highway Maintenance Team):
"I enjoyed spending time with the crew, it was a good day. I learnt about the aspects of a highways officer and I am hopefully going to look into getting a career there. It gave me a true insight to what is out there."
Dan (Environmental Team):
"It was an amazing experience, got to spend the day with the environmental team and get an insight on what they do on a day to day basis."
The official Twitter account for Takeover Challenge, @CCOTakeover, tweeted us to say,
“Great work @medway_council @ylfcharity putting young people into decision making roles #takeoverchallenge and inspiring others.”
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their own individual takeover challenge and we are looking forward to Takeover Day next year and the opportunities to be had! Good luck to anyone else participating in their own takeover challenge soon!
