YLF's Legends Activity Programme made February Half Term one to remember with an action packed week full of exciting activities and new adventures!
YLF’s Legends Programme, funded by The National Lottery Reaching Communities fund, BBC Children in Need and the Masonic Charitable Foundation, offers disadvantaged children a range of activities throughout the year.
Currently our Legends Programme is available to young people aged 6-21 years in Medway, Thanet, Gravesham, and Swale. More info can be found here.
The Swale hub “bowled” into the start of half term with 22 young people heading off to Rochester for a bowling bash with strikes, spares and lots of cheering!
“I have never been before, I thought it was great!”
“It was so good to meet new people and make friends!”
Our Medway hub zip wired, climbed and dangled 25 feet above the ground at Go Ape Bedgebury. Young people climbed various high rope obstacle courses, facing fears, and encouraging each other.
“I was sooo scared, but soo pleased I did it. It helped me to face my fear of heights.”
…well kind of!
As if the weather wasn’t cold enough, our Medway junior Legends decided to head out to Gillingham Ice Bowl to weave in and out the crowds on the ice. Lots of twisting and turning took place and our skilled skating legends supported our newbie skating team. We laughed as the leaders nearly fell over, and helped each other not to fall head first over our wobbly feet.
“I haven’t been ice skating before, it was tough but I loved it and I am really pleased we got to come here.”
The young people from the Thanet Hub chose to go to Flip Out in Ashford. All the young people had an amazing time, making friends with other young people, building their confidence and having fun. A funny part of the day was laughing at the mentors as they tried to bounce!
“I’ve had such a fun day, made new friends and even did my first ever back flip!”
