Making History!

Medway’s Children in Care Council made history when the current Chairperson, David Jenkin, addressed the Council yesterday evening when he attended the Full Council Meeting.

David took to the floor with confidence to present the Children in Care Council film on tackling ‘STIGMA’, which was well received by all in attendance.  He fielded questions confidently and was congratulated by Medway Council for his presentation and for his involvement in the ‘Tackling Stigma' campaign.

David says, “It was so nerve racking standing in front of those people and when I was given the microphone I just went for it. They asked some really good questions and were really pleased with the film. I am well chuffed with how it went!”

Cllr Mike O'Brien, Lead Portfolio Holder for Children's Services said, “I think that I can safely say that David made history last night in being allowed to address the Full Council. He made an excellent job of it too. I am confident that this young man will go far in life!"

Phil Watson, Assistant Director Children's Social Care added, “David really rises to these occasions whatever the audience seemingly.”
