Overnight Adventure
On Saturday, 16 young people set off to Arethusa Adventure Centre for a weekend of fun and challenges!
At 10am that morning the group were all raring to go! The weekend started off with a tour of the centre and the rooms where they would be sleeping for the night - for some of the younger ones, this was the first time they had stayed out overnight in a group!
"I really wasn't sure that I wanted a go earlier but I am really pleased I did, it was really good in the end.” Ruby, 10
Activities on Saturday included a high ropes obstacle course (20 feet high!!), building protective shelters for animals, swimming and group games such as tag.
"I think my shelter is the best, it looks really good and fits my rabbit well!” Joseph, 11
Saturday evening ended with a cozy campfire and a group sing off - oh and not forgetting eating sausages and smores (we weren't sure what they were either - two chocolate biscuits with a toasted marshmallow in the middle we hear!)
"Today was so much fun... And I didn't even know what smores were until I came here! I enjoyed toasting the marshmallows!” Shannon, 12
Sunday concluded with a detective murder mystery game - a chance for the group to demonstrate their best investigation and problem solving techniques! And did they solve the murder!? Yes of course they did!
You can read more about their trip on their Blog here
Shakila, 9, summed up the weekend, “There wasn't a favourite bit of the weekend…. I loved it all!”
With thanks to recent fundraising from High Sheriff of Kent, Hugo Fenwick, YLF young people have had a fantastic time!
