Staying Connected

Now more than ever is the time YLF need to keep in touch and stay connected with our young people....

In these first couple of ‘Lockdown’ weeks, we have discovered just how crucial it is for YLF to stay in touch with its beneficiaries – the children, the families, the care leavers, the vulnerable adults; as well as partners and volunteers to name a few.

We have been working hard to put measures in place that allow us to continue working as best and safely as we can including email, phone or virtual ‘one-to-one’ support meetings for young people, staff and volunteers, online team meetings for staff, trustees or those we work in partnership with, and safe group chats for our youngsters online…

We have also been using social media platforms as a great way to engage and share ideas, fun games, tips and other ways we can all stay happy and healthy during the crisis we are facing right now.

Here’s some things we wanted to share that demonstrate how we are providing continued support! Enjoy… and if you have an idea you want to share with us, please get in touch!

New Skills...

Our wonderful Mentoring volunteer Jade brings you a sign language video!

Jade challenged herself to learn how to sign to her favourite songs so that she could perform them for our young people.

Check out her first video here!

Get Movin'...

YLF volunteer and Dance Director Ellie has pre-recorded two tutorials for street dance routines! These have been keeping our groups and young people busy as they practice their ‘poppin n lockin’!

You can join in with video 1 here and video 2 here! Don’t miss out – bust some moves!

Firm Friendships...

We don’t stop our groups for anything, we just change the way we do them. Our team have been hard at work, keeping the weekly groups going virtually so everyone can still see their friends!

From singalongs and quizzes to virtual baking and film sharing our young people have been kept just as busy – all from the comfort of their sofas!

Locked and Loaded...

With thanks to suggestions from YLF volunteers and young people we have also been able to put together a YLF Quarantine Top tips and Activities Pack.

Check it out here!
