YLF Youngsters Enjoy A Day At The Farm!
Farming World was the destination for the Junior Challengers’ half term outing on 29th May. Twelve children in care aged 8 to 11 years enjoyed the visit to the attraction at Faversham. They were lucky to have dry weather when they first arrived so took the opportunity to leap around the outdoor playground. The rain closed in and sadly cut short the bird of prey demonstration but the sheep shearing and the spider and snake exhibit more than made up for it.
Ruby said “I hate spiders but I was able to get quite close to the tarantula and cockroaches. It made me feel brave.”
When watching the shearing Joe said “It didn't look very comfy for the sheep, especially when the clippers made it bleed a bit. There was loads of wool that came off its back.”
Shannon shared with us, “I’d wanted for a long time to hold a snake. It felt really nice even though it got heavy after a while. Such good fun.”
The day was rounded off with an hour in the indoor gym in the centre’s Play Barn where everyone managed to get a sweat on.
Another great day out and thank you to all who came along.
