Group Sightseeing in London
On Wednesday, YLF headed to the capital to soak up the sights of London!
Medway Challengers youngsters were joined by the Medway Children in Care Council members and together the group travelled to London by train to visit some of the country’s most famous landmarks - some of which the young people had never seen before!
Despite the drizzle the young people were in good spirits and keen to take in the sights.
“It was nice to spend the day actually seeing loads of London, instead of being inside one of the big tourist attractions.” said Tiff
After a quick stroll through China Town our first stop was Covent Garden. The group spent their time watching the street entertainers and strolling round the markets soaking up the atmosphere.
Trafalgar Square was next on the itinerary followed by St James Park and Buckingham Palace. Although the Queen was in residence, sadly we didn't have time to stop for tea!
David said, “I had never seen Buckingham Palace before today."
Last stop was Embankment for a walk along the Thames. The young people had a ride on an old fashioned carousel and browsed the stalls for some traditional souvenirs.
At least 400 selfies and 15 pairs of achy legs later, it was time for our train journey home.
“I have literally laughed all day long” Dean
On behalf of the young people at YLF, we would like to give thanks to Thomas Cook Children's Charity for funding this event, we are incredibly grateful.
