Inside India | 14 Days To Go!
The 'Inside India' Group are now counting down the days to their overseas experience to Udaipur, India!
It's not long until the Children in Care Council members will touchdown in the hot heat of India ready to give their all to teaching English in primary schools
and supporting children in orphanages as well as discovering more about the culture and traditions. The group cannot wait to get started, although nerves are also settling in!...
Terry says, "I am nervous about doing the teaching side of things because I wasn't very good at English or writing when I was in school but I know I will have support from the team and they will help me every step of the way.
This will be a great experience for me and will also be an eye-opening opportunity! I have never done anything like this before but I am looking forward to it. I think at times it might be emotional because of what I might see but we all have each others support in the group.
I am really looking forward to meeting the young people in India who I will be teaching and looking forward to learning about the culture and how they live. I think I will learn a lot about myself too and respect what I have back at home. This will help me develop my own personal skills and although I'm nervous, I'm so excited to go - I cannot wait!"
The group recently met for a fact-finding and information session with Basti Ram, who will accompany YLF and the group on the trip. At the meeting the group learnt about what India will be like, where they are staying and what they will be doing - a little sing along of the songs that will be sung at school went down well and everyone was doing the actions with the words! We also competed in a teambuilding game to build a spaghetti and marshmallow bridge to help prepare the group for working together... there wasn't a winner this time, it was a draw - but some may secretly argue theirs was the best!!
