Over the weekend of 5th to 7th May, our adventurers headed off to Stubbers Activity Centre in Essex for a fantastic time doing loads of really cool outdoor activities, learning new skills and making new friends.
After arriving at the campsite on Friday evening, the first thing to do was to have some dinner! After everyone had eaten, unpacking was quickly done and then there was time to play football, play some board games and cards before settling down in tents for the night!
After an early start on Saturday (and a late night on Friday!) we were ready for our first activities of the day, where the young people worked as a team to complete challenges and jet skiing!
At lunch, young people excitedly chatted about their morning; who had completed the team challenge in the least time and who had mastered the jet skis!
Then it was time to head off for the afternoon activities, the banana boat and air rifle shooting. The banana boat rides were great fun with many young people and staff falling in and those who did manage to stay on, definitely did not stay dry!
Everyone was exhausted from the day’s activities and the previous late night and early start, so a chilled evening was spent chatting, playing music and toasting marshmallows around the camp fire. Two young people were celebrating their birthdays so the group sang Happy Birthday and everybody ate cake!
“I love camping and being outdoors. It was great sitting around the camp fire toasting marshmallows” Joe
On Sunday morning, young people headed off to have some breakfast before their morning activities; 4x4 driving and Kayaking. The 4x4 driving was the first experience of driving for many of the young people, and they all absolutely loved this activity.
“This was my first experience of going on a residential and I absolutely loved it. Jet skiing is awesome, but I loved the 4x4 driving the best”. Sam
After the morning’s activities and some lunch, young people packed up and the vans were loaded. It was then time to head home. What a fantastic weekend!
“I loved every second of it, can’t wait to go again” Chris
