Fundraiser | London Marathon

By Neil Vickery... 12.01.2016

"I'm really honoured to be running the Virgin London Marathon for YLF and hope to raise £1000 for the Charity. I've previously completed 2 full marathons and 12 half marathons and whilst I haven't yet ran the London Marathon, I have been desperate to do so!

xmas parkrun 19 dec 15I am excited to be writing this blog re my training - I started the training over Christmas and on my first training run I was joined by one of my lads, Tyler, and my mate, Mel, who has ran 99 marathons to date, with London 2016 being his 100th, so we will be training together this year!

I took part in Maidstone Parkrun on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and 2nd January. I'm also taking part in Sweatshop Running Club events on Mondays and Fridays, and I did my first 'long run' (first of many!!) on Sunday just gone. I am up to 25 miles per week so far, which will increase to 35-40 as we get nearer the day.

training started 10th Jan 16I am booked to enter Ashurst Cross Country 10k later in January, the Deal Half Marathon in Feb, and I'm doing Rome Half Marathon in March, so lots in the diary before the big day!

No injuries apart form the usual (sore nipples - don't ask!!). From the 2 marathons I've done in the past, the trick is to get the training right and not over-train or under-train - so this time I hope to get it spot on!!

I'm excited to be set to achieve my ambition to run London, so thanks again guys!
