Summer to Remember

YLF’s Adventure-Filled Summer Programme 2025

As the colder weather and darker evenings draw in, we’re taking a moment to look back at YLF’s incredible Summer Activity & Adventure Programme and what an unforgettable summer it was!

Over 100 young people from across Kent joined us for a season packed with fun, friendship, and exploring. From laughter-filled days at the beach to climbing up natural rock face, every moment was bursting with energy, smiles, and new experiences.

Making Memories in the Great Outdoors

Our young people enjoyed a whole variety of activities this summer, exploring nature reserves, handling exotic creatures at local zoos, fishing, sharing picnics in the park, and of course, enjoying plenty of ice creams!

We gathered around BBQs for outdoor cooking, learnt new skills, and made the most of the sunshine. Every day brought a new opportunity to laugh, connect, and grow together.

Team Spirit and Friendly Competition

One of the biggest highlights of the summer was a football tournament between our Thanet and Gravesend hubs! The energy, teamwork, and sportsmanship were fantastic, and both teams proudly wore personalised kits kindly donated to YLF.

It was an incredible day of friendly competition, cheering crowds, and great community spirit, a perfect reminder of how sport brings people together.

Adventures Away From Home

All of our youth groups had the chance to enjoy overnight adventures away from home. Experiences full of excitement, bravery, and bonding.

Thanet Hub braved their first-ever camping trip! After setting up their tents and mastering the fire pit, they cooked a delicious BBQ and enjoyed a night under the stars, with several saying it was ‘the best night’s sleep they’d ever had!’

Swale Hub took on an action-packed trip to PGL, showing amazing courage as they tried climbing, water sports, and high ropes and topped it all off with a lively camp party!

Gravesham Hub returned to one of their favourite activity centres, where they tackled caving, climbing, and swinging through the trees, lots of laughter, encouragement, and confidence-building.

These trips were magical for both our young people and our amazing youth workers and volunteers who supported them every step of the way.

A Heartfelt Thankyou

The YLF Youth Programmes Team would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made this summer possible, our funders, partners, donors, and community supporters.

Your generosity helped us open these experiences to over 100 young people who might not otherwise have had the chance to join in. Because of you, they enjoyed screen-free adventures, built resilience, and made memories that will last a lifetime.

Looking Ahead

As the seasons change, our youth groups continue to run weekly sessions and we’re already looking forward to our Christmas activities and the adventures yet to come.

Thank you to everyone who made Summer 2025 unforgettable, especially our brilliant young people who brought every moment to life.
