Building Resilient Young People

Here at YLF, for young people accessing any of our services, we focus on six resilience domains that enable young people to lead a fulfilling life.

Our volunteers work alongside young people in improving these key factors, and in turn improving the resilience of young people, to better deal with the ups and downs in life.

Changing Lives

We have a number of experienced and trained members in our team including advocates, volunteer appropriate adults, volunteer mentors and volunteer befrienders. Also, our Legends programme provides exciting opportunities for young people to gain self-esteem, learn new skills, and develop new interests!

Our Impact

YLF has over 230 volunteers across Kent and Medway, delivering 34,000 voluntary hours per annum which equates to £255,000 at minimum wage!

What People Say

“With YLF I have been to places I would never have dreamed of. I’ve loved every minute of our activities!”  Kieran, young person

“Ricky loves coming to the group on Thursdays. He has enjoyed all the activities, especially the trip to Wales. I have noticed he has grown in confidence since coming and it is especially good for him to meet new people. Ricky really looks forward to coming to group every week and always has a big smile on his face when I pick him up.” Ken, foster carer

“She (YLF volunteer) has made such a difference to my life. She’s supported and helped me with my life plans and careers.  When I had lost all hope for schooling and exams she helped me get myself back on track by giving me a little test everyday to help.  She has always been someone else I can talk to who understands me” Gemma, young person
