Positive Activities

YLF positive activities provide a fun, supportive and safe setting for young people to engage in new opportunities and experiences. The young people engaging in these activities are children in care, those with learning or behavioural difficulties, have special educational needs or are from deprived backgrounds.  Our positive activities programmes offer:

  • regular weekly groups
  • regular half-term activities
  • occasional day trips and seasonal trips
  • overnight experiences and camping weekends
  • educational opportunities with ASDAN qualifications

  • take part in educational opportunities
  • broaden horizons and make new friends
  • build self confidence and self esteem
  • learn new skills

Weekly Groups

“We’ve been bowling, ice skating, played football, had board games nights and so much more. It’s nice to get along with everyone – they know what it’s like being in care so I can just be me.”

Day Trips and Activities

“I had such a good time at paintballing! We are even going to London next time, I can’t wait. I’ve done loads with YLF and liked making new friends here as well.”

Overnight Experiences

“I’m so pleased I had the chance to go to Wales. Even with a massive fear of water, everyone helped me feel better about doing gorge walking and canoeing – and I did it! I’m so happy! I’m definitely coming out with YLF again, I’ve had the best time!”

We will hope to continue expanding our programme over the next year so that more young people can enjoy and benefit from the experiences offered.
